OK, after two years, I'm finally & hopefully getting around to getting this disabled. Does anyone know exactly where the bluetooth receiver module is, or what it looks like? I've looked behind the stereo and I don't know what to look for. Pictures would be helpful ...

I found references to a Hands free-ECU in the service manual. Have you looked there for your info? I found a basic diagram on 54A-207. I think unplugging the Hands free-ECU will also disable the USB input. Try following your USB cable to the Hands free-ECU.

I seem to remember that the Bluetooth module is a Johnson Controls item.

I haven't found anything in the Service Manual specifically about bluetooth ...

Does the hands free-ecu control both the Bluetooth and USB input? The 2014 DE seems to have the USB input without Bluetooth, so it seems to suggest that the hands free-ecu might not be the controller for both?

I wish I knew. You are like Captain Kirk here - charting new worlds. And the rest of us are eagerly awaiting your findings.

It would be cool to figure this out though.

    Thank you!

Was this located behind the radio, and accessible through the glove box?

    Here's one reason:

I don't use it, don't need it, and so I see no need to keep it on and using power.

Distance has a considerable impact on this. Weigh the benefits of using a wireless communication technology against using a cellphone against one's ear. In this example, the cellphone against the ear would emit more electromagnetic energy than a Bluetooth link, because the phone's transciever must reach a distant antenna tower. In addition, this example ties up at least one hand. A Bluetooth-connected call placed using the Mirage's JCI Bluetooth interface can provide an improvement over a traditional mobile phone conversation.

That being said - if you aren't going to use it, lose it. Or better yet, get some money for it and put it up for sale.

Let us know how unplugging this module affects your radio operation.

"To boldly go where no man has gone before."

Cue the music (get it? just don't use BT.)
