Wink Anyone disappointed ... (that it's *not* the least powerful engine?)

Yes, I know it sounds weird, but is anyone else (at least in the u.S.) disappointed that the Mirage does not have the least powerful engine currently in the new-car market?

Power to weight the mirage is actually up the top for the 3 cylinder class with it's competition.

According to this: http://www.autobytel.com/top-10-cars...r-cars/coupes/ the least powerful gas car is the Smart with 70hp. Of course, you could get a Mitsubishi iMev and drop down to 66hp, though they are a bit pricey compared to the Mirage.

Interestingly, the Smart electric is exactly the same hp as the Mirage. I wonder how it compares with torque and how that translates to moving the car (I imagine the instant power of electric would make it accelerate quite well).

Maybe you have been thinking "I like the Mirage, but it is just too big", or "An Elio would be nice, but the length of that thing would make parking at the office difficult". Still, if you couldn't find or afford a P-50, there were few options.

It seems you are in luck - they are making them again: http://www.peelengineering.co.uk/

The original was 4.5Hp, though I haven't investigated what these are. Top Gear did a bit on them, whith May driving it inside offices and taking it on the elevator!

I don't feel like something's really a "car" unless it can seat (at least) 4 people

But could you take it on a typical elevator and drive it around your office?!?! Life is full of compromises, and for me, the Mirage would be much more useful than the P-50 (probably safer, and faster, and better in snow as well).

    Related to the original question...

Thread: Poll: 1.0L Mirage engine = 7.5% better fuel economy. Would you choose it?

The 1.0L Mirage engine has less power than a Smart.
