Mitsubishi Mirage: Second time's the charm (Malaysia review)

    From article.

PETALING JAYA - Our first impression of the latest Mitsubishi Mirage nine months ago took off on a so-so footing during a regional media event in Thailand.

On paper, the new Mirage looks good but the short drive at the Bira Circuit barely allowed us to assess the Mitsubishi Eco-Car on its good fuel mileage and other assets.

When it was launched here late last year, we had looked forward to another impression drive as we believed there was more to the new Mirage than just a good fuel mileage car.

Nice find - thanks for posting that, jamie.

    Notable:

    • Their economy run results showed the CVT with the advantage over the manual, and all participants beat the official 21 km/L rating (though no numbers were given)
    • The nearly ubiquitous "lots of body roll" observation was made.
    • Sales stats are interesting: 90% of buyers have gone for the top line CVT GS model.

And lastly, why the heck are they driving so fast in Malaysia?? Quote:

The Mirage CVT can scoot up to 170kph on the highway with the engine revving close to 6,000rpm and cruise at 140-150kph with the engine turning at about 4,500rpm.
