I think the Corvette and other vehicles use synthetic from day 1 . Started using synthetic in a Yaris and a FIT at about 2,000 miles and no issues . Lot of different opinions on this topic .

Didn't notice any in the oil or on the bottom of the pail . Would pour the oil into a container and take it for recycling .
I wouldn't expect to see too much metal in synthetic oil .. here's a good explanation.
UPDATE:
Just over 1000 miles now. Definitely getting ready for my first oil change (so excited!).
Hit a sweet deal, where if I got 5 qts of Mobil 1 full synth (which I wanted already), it would just be an extra $4 for the Mobil1 Extended Performance filter (priced normally at $12.99!)
Still looking around for trustworthy jack stands. There were a set of 2 for $20 by Duralast at Autozone..I thought, this is too cheap to be good and passed up on them. Glad I did, these things get TERRIBLE reviews!
Will be stopping by NAPA store hopefully this weekend to browse.

Have you got a Harbor Freight near you? They are great for stuff like Jacks and stands.

I have a set of jack stands i bought at NAPA just before i was hired there (8 years+) and they still work/look great. Btw changed the oil last night at 1029 miles, the oil looked good but seemed thin as water.i collected some for oil analysis to be sent out.i intalled a NAPA gold filter 1356 and filled up with mobil 1 0w20 advanced fuel economy.driving all over hell today,so i will put to the test.
