Howdy from San Antonio / Austin, TX

    Hi, folks.

Very nice board you have here. I registered because I am right ready to buy one of these cute little cars. I guess what sets me apart is that I am 6'4 and have sat in a base model, and with the seat all the way back, am comfortable and enjoy a commanding view of the road. I was totally surprised to find out how nicely I felt and could see as the driver.

Still deciding what I want to get - 5-speed or CTV - but my color choices are white and blue, with a charcoal as a third choice, I guess. Love the mileage and the bare-bones functionality. I am a minimalist by nature!

So...I do hope to get some good insight here from the multiple owners.

    -Joe

Welcome to the forum, rusty joe.

These cars are surprisingly roomy inside for their footprint.

Go with the manual! Team Manual! It's one of the lightest, easiest to use clutches and the shift action is smooth. Very enjoyable to drive.

    Thanks so much.

I was leaning towards standard, anyways. Nothing like a stick-shift for me. A bunch of the base-line models are lined up out on the lot and I plan to test-drive one this morning.

I'm about 6 ft tall and drive with the seats back in their tracks.

In most cars, I have the driver's seat as far back as it will go. In the Mirage, I'm one click from the rear most position.

Amazing for a car this size.

My family says that I don't "drive" I "pimp drive", so my Mirage has become my "Purple Pimpmobile". Looking for a purple hat with a feather to complete the look.

Welcome! I had been saving up for over a year and half to actually buy a Ford Fiesta, but when I finally got enough dough cached away, I got the Mirage instead. You sound like me, a practical, minimalist so I promise you won't be disappointed. Which trim will you go for? I myself got the basic DE trim which actually has its advantages if you like to switch out and modify a bunch of stuff as the basic trim is like a blank slate for you to go crazy on.

    Hi, Charlie.

It was actually one of your posts I first read here (where you talked about being able to own something outright and not have to finance it) upon initially investigating the Mirage. Good going on your investment. I would be going for the DE model.

And yes sir, a pragmatist I certainly am!

Thanks. I may hit up West Loop for the best deals. They appear better than those in Austin, or so it seems.
