Possible convert from a smart fortwo -- Update: bought a Mirage

That's a question you'd have to ask the marketing gurus in Canadian car companies.

None of the "cheap" new cars here have A/C on the base model: Versa sedan (discontinued), Micra, Spark, Mirage, Accent (not really cheap), etc.

I test drove a 2014 cvt es yesterday and found the 2015 mirage will have an "es plus" version which will have AC without cruise control, power rear windows or heated seats.....at a nice price point.

Our American friends won't know what we're talking about, since AC comes as standard on both their trims.

Hello MetroMPG,
It appears there is a choice of three models in Canada now for 2015. Mirage ES, Mirage ES+ which gives you AC and climate control, and the top of the line Mirage SE. I got the base ES with no AC, but was told the dealer could add AC later if I wanted.

Ya,and I think that's wrong....always did. We always seem to get the short end of the stick with this as Canadians, the Mirage's shipping fee is $1200 for us versus $795 for the Americans as yet another example....

Go to the USA and get you a mirage with AC mine is A DE And I have AC. I believe you can cross the border and come back with a mirage.or maybe you can order one.let us know

You guys get heated seats tho. I would have liked to have that options available here in Minnesota.

I bet you'll be getting the heated seat option eventually in the U.S. They always do things to improve the model lineup/options as a car ages.

And it doesn't make sense: Canadians buy about 1/5th the number of Mirages as Americans buy. But I bet more than 1/5 of U.S. buyers would like heated seats!

I decided to get a 2015 ESPlus with the CVT only because so many people can't drive standard anymore,and since I am buying new...."make it green" please!
