Question clean fuel vehicle in DC, does the Mirage apply?

    Hello,

I am considering a move to DC and am just browsing through the DMV paperwork ahead. There is a reduced registration fee for hybrid and fuel efficient cars that achieve a 40 MPG city average or better. Well, the Mirage does not meet this consumption on the paper, but this forum and the many fuel economy reports show that 40+ MPG city is possible.

Do you have any experience with these rules? Would they accept the fuel economy log of this site?

    thx for your thoughts.

I'd guess that the EPA estimates are used to get this discount, but I have no direct experience with DC, except frustration with the politicians that work there.

If they didn't have some sort of objective criteria, I'd suspect managing this would be a nightmare for the DMV.

I'm pretty sure they would look at 'on paper' stuff with EPA or dealerships' posted MPGs.
