    Mirage vs Hanging Wire

As you can guess this didn't turn out well. Driving about 35 on local route 27, all of a sudden in front of me and no time to react a wire in a loop hanging straight down into the middle of the road. It hit the front of the car first then wrapped itself under the front first beating the crap out of the hood. Then wrapped around I guess and the underside of the drivers side front and mirror.. Mind you this all happened very fast. Then it snapped off where it was hanging from. This all happened so fast. Lots of cosmetic damage done, but I won't be able to see how much paint damage was done till all the rubber on the hood is removed. I'm very sad she only has 2k on her.

According to the officer and fire chief on scene it was either a verizon or comcast wire. It was documented and will be in the police report. I'm so pissed. I have babied my Mirage for the short time I've had it and now it's beat up

Doh, I'm very sorry to hear that. I know how that is. I had a 2003 Matrix and within the first 3 weeks of having the car my wife got rear ended in it... I was not happy at all even though the insurance took care of all of it.

Do you have any pictures of the damage?

Your insurance should go after the owner of the wire, especially since it's a company maintenance issue. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly and you get your car back in perfect shape fast!

That sucks! I happened to run over a ripped-out truck tire tread. Sounded awful, but the only thing it did was to slightly scratch the underside of the nose (you can't see it from the front), and dislodged the exhaust from the front hook (easy fix once home).

I hope the insurance comes through for you!
