another test drive with my wife/2015 rebate info

A second test drive this morning on the de/cvt. All highway this time. My wife drove it as well on the turnpike. The car accelerated well merged with traffic fine and passed other cars with no problems. My wifes only complaint was that when accelerating from a stop, the cvt was noisy to her but otherwise she thought it was fine and served its purpose for another vehicle/commuter car for our family.. Also, dealer told me 2015s start with a $750.00 rebate. I came close to buying a leftover Honda fit sport a few weeks ago but I think this test drive and my wifes opinions/thoughts solidified it for me. The dealer said the $750 rebate may go up to $1000 in the coming months. Im going back next months when a 15 starlight silver comes in.

How often will you be just listening to the engine.

I almost always have the radio on, which drowns out most of the noise.

I have come to like the engine roaring. My biggest complaint (and almost everybody's else) is the sluggish steering.

I like the noise the engine makes when accelerating, almost sporty. When cruising it's very quiet.

If you unplug the power steering, will you have hard steering, or no steering?

    You'll have manual (harder) steering.

Putting in wider wheels and tires will solve steering issues. Only down side is the drop in MPG.

I was doing a wide sweeper the other day and noticed that I was actually holding the steering wheel down - a feeling I didnt have back on the stock wheels+tires.

Also, 'center weight' feel while driving is more prevalent.

When driving straight, feels more planted, with more resistance when turning the wheel left or right.

One of the key reasons I bought a Mirage was fuel economy.

I'd probably not go with fatter wheels/tires to get better handling, but it is good to know that even if you sacrifice a couple of MPGs, you're still getting outstanding mileage.
