Reviewer J. E. KUYPER offers up a balanced look at the car, keeping things in context, beginning with...

Mitsubishi's 2014 Mirage can be described in several ways, but all of them add up to this: The hatchback is small, economical and devoid of pretension.
    Likes...

    - great fuel economy when driven sensibly: reviewer saw 41.2 MPG US over a week of mixed city/interstate driving
    - ample cargo capacity with the rear seats folded
    - good braking capability
    - safety features

    Dislikes...

    - small-ish tires
    - no frills
    - bumps felt through flat, firm seats
    - leg room (is this guy all legs??)
    - small cars must be driven extra-carefully

    Overall...

The Mirage is not a glamorous car, but the fuel economy speaks for itself. The warranty might compensate for trim deficiencies such as hard plastics for dashboard and inside panels.

    Excuse me?

I drive mine like I stole it most of the time. Except this tank of gas because I've been babying her to get my MPG stats back up.

Article translation: it's a safety argument. People who aren't used to driving small cars are scared of them. "I WANT MY SUBURBAN!!"

Legroom? I'm 6'2" and have extra legroom. Frills? I have navigation, climate control, power windows, rear camera, keyless entry, remote start and a lot of other available things that I passed on. Smallish tires? = mpg. The rest isn't even worth replying to.

I'm sick of listening to the brainless cry of "if you crash you're dead".
