    Question Empty Support on Firewall?

I noticed an empty supporting base on the driver's side of the firewall. Does anyone know what is it for? Maybe for an optional accesory?

Have you tried a Google Image search? You might get lucky and find something attached to that mount in photos.

Guess - could it be something to do with the construction process? eg hold it on the gurney during construction/painting

I looked at mine,it has the same thing. It is indeed a mount because it has a V shaped tapered track/claws to hold something.

I can only think of a couple things it could be holding. Possibly mirage manufactured for different countries with different options might either have a module(computer) like cruise control or the one with the automatic stop and go (start/stop) might have extra electronics mounted there, or some sort of fluid or vacuum tank or even a vacuum pump. (some modern vehicles I work on now have electric vacuum pump for the brake booster) Ok that is more than a couple things.

And I actually tried google image search but came up empty handed.

Hopefully someone can enlighten us with a picture or explanation.

It appears to hold wiring on the RHD models.

Where does the tube lead to?

Doubt that it's an oil catch can.
Doubt that it's emissions related. (as US would have it)

I would have gone with the RHD reasoning - until the pix above showed up.

How about maybe it's an accessory holder for the 1L engine?
