    First Oil Change

I had my first oil change done yesterday at my Mitsubishi dealer. I had just over 3k on my car. It's funny the car sounds so much better after the change, and just seems smoother overall. They used a synthetic blend, and we agreed that the 7500 oil change interval was a bit too long, so I'll be bringing it back every 4k.

Hmm, what viscosity did they put in?? And you say synthetic blend, so can I assume they did not use 0w-20? Engine sounding smoother after oil change..sounds a lot like what Cookiemonster described after moving up to 10w-30.

I don't know how long y'all have been driving vehicles, but ALL the vehicles I've driven, 2 wheels, 4 wheels, or no wheels run smoother and quieter with new oil.

Mine did run quieter (for the first 10 km) when I changed the oil from 5W30 to 10W40 .... after that ... same ol same ol

mine sounded pretty quiet until at least 1k miles. Now, at 2700 miles after my oil change, everything's pretty clunky lol.

I'm at 12k KM after oil change and it still sounds very quiet at stationary, sounds smoother than my Galant!

My dealership recommended 5k miles. 4k isnt too bad if one's anal about it.

As I've already said in the other thread, even at 5k, the oil looked pretty good. May have lasted til 6k.

However, what we haven't been talking about is the filter. Maybe the filter has a shorter life than the oil? The older the filter is, the less it does it's job well.
