Dealership let me have a Mirage for the weekend

I went by the dealership today and ended up getting a Mirage (ES) loaned to me for the weekend. So far I'm loving the thing. It's down to a Mirage or a Spark, but after all day with the Mirage the Spark is going to need to be super impressive. The 3-banger vibration at red lights is noticeable, but not a concern as that's the nature of the triple beast. The super slow acceleration is going to take some getting used to, but I ran it up to highway speeds and it didn't break a sweat. The ride is much much better than one would think possible in such a cheap and light car.

Overall I still like the look of the Spark more, and I'm used to integrated XM, but I'm thinking it's going to take a stellar showing from the Spark to keep me out of a Mirage.

Also, assuming I end up with a mirage, I thought Silver would be my choice, but the red of this demo has grown on me, as has the thunder gray....also like the blue....so many decisions!

I was also shocked how well the AC handles Alabama heat. Even with it so hot and humid outside and with a heat index of 100 today, there were points I had to turn the air down. Kuddos to Mitsubishi on the AC!

Even as a Mirage owner, I can't argue about the Spark having better exterior styling than the Mirage...the Mirage is about as ho-hum functional as you can get. But the Spark and Mirage are both econoboxes, and the Mirage seems to do a better job at being an econobox. I'm actually disappointed when my Mirage only gets 50 MPG, and the biggest engine problem being discussed with the Mirage on the forums is that it can sometime be difficult to shift the manual transmission into reverse.

I like the bland, conservative styling of the Mirage. It'll age well.

Agreed? I don't think its terribly bland. I think it might be a little simple, but that will help it age gracefully. The hard edges of the Spark will make it look "dated" and somewhat cartoonish soon enough. The Mirage is sleek, and looks contemporary because of its focus on aerodynamics. If Mitsubishi keep that focus, the car will age well.

You wont be happy with a spark, you will get high 30's mpg on the good side and burn a quart of oil per fill up on the bad side lol

P.S, they call it a spark because all that oil that burns will prly catch it on fire. Im sure soon there will be a recall for it!
