    Interesting Mirage Quirks!!

Found out some interesting things about my Mirage recently.

When the car is sitting locked and you unlock it with the fob, it will relock itself automatically if no one opens the doors.

The second thing i found is when the wipers are on intermittant they will speed up the faster you go. I believe it increases at both 60km and 100 km/h.

Anyone else stumble on quirks with your Mirage?

The Filipino mirage forums has a thread similar to this... Something like "did you know that..."

I'll try to find the thread and post some responses.

Mitsubishi launched the Mirage as a front-wheel drive three-door hatchback in March 1978, as a response to the 1973 oil crisis
in 2002. The Colt replaced the Mirage hatchback
The Colt was renamed back to Mirage in 2012

Yep, the car locks itself after few seconds, if you haven't opened any of the doors. That's for the security purpose (if you accidentally pushed the unlock button on the key).

The windshield wipers will speed up and down when the car's speed is changed. And again that's for safety purpose.

There is a lot of trick. For example, the car shut down its electricity after 30 min, even if the key in the ignition lock on the ACC.

Is that wiper blade measurement correct?
I want the euro style wiper blades, but they don't make them for our car yet

A friend of mine has a Jetta TDI, I think a 2010 with just over 100,000 miles, and he's facing a recommended timing belt change at 120,000 for a cost of about $700 USD. Glad the 1.2 has a timing chain.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the Mirage has a timing belt. See your maintenance manual.

I think that's just a generic manual not specific to any Mitsu model.

oh oh ... i have one. If you don't fully engage the turn signals, but instead just bump them up or down, you get exactly 3 flashes in the direction you bumped it. Not sure if this is a normal car thing, or if i'm just used to driving craigslist special cars.
