Does this look like structure damage or just cosmetic? I only have basic liability coverage, so I'm on the hook for repairs at Maaco. I told him just make it safe to drive. I don't care about pretty. How much damage this look like to you?

My car is worth $6100 private party, not trade-in. I hope the repair bill doesn't exceed this. Anyone on here know anything about body shop quotes? I just need it to be safe and street legal to drive.

You're probably looking at a minimum of around $4,500 to fix that the right way at a professional body shop charging normal rates. Technically the car would be considered "totaled" because the repair cost is going to approach 75%+ of the car's current value. But you have liability only so it sounds like all the repair costs are coming out of your pocket. If the car is a total loss and you only have liability coverage, you aren't going to get a dime from your own insurance company to fix or replace anything.

That damage looks entirely cosmetic to me. If you're broke and don't want to spend the money, I would stick a replacement tail-light lens on that one side and bust out a roll of Gorilla tape to secure that bumper cover from flopping around in the breeze. As long as the car is tracking straight and nothing is rubbing that rear tire, just tape it back together for now. It ain't gonna look pretty but it will still be perfectly functional. You can decide later if you really want to fix it.

Oh man, sorry Dirk. The part inside the bumper doesn't look difficult, nor expensive. To replace or even bend back.

But that C-Pillar is going to be somewhat labor intensive ... I think.

And the suspension piece, can probably be replaced as well with not too much expense.

Just to summarize my feeling. It's going to be close to whether it's worth spending on a repair. It is body shop dependent. There's some shops that will flexibly work with a self-payer customer. Like Mom n Pop shops. And with one of those, it might be quite feasible. I'm in the process of a repair at the moment. It took a while to find the right shop.
