They want the same kinds of mandatory safety and environment items here too!

So we get all the good cars here?

Maybe its more that those ridiculously designed, extremely wasteful and totally outdated dinosaurs of automobile development that are still being continually thrown on some regional markets are not attracting any customers here at all. People here usually look down pitifully and are genuinely full of sorrow for anyone buying such trash.

Here in Europe one litre of good table wine can be bought much cheaper than one litre of fuel. Its been that way for the past 35 years or so, and we're not a country of alcoholics. That may explain why economical cars are normal in Europe. The Mirage has plenty of competition here.

Besides that, a horrific news item about climate change due to exessive energy consumption just came in on the radio: The west antarctic ice-shelf is past the point of no return.

Or own children will see the ocean start rising in their own lifetime at least to five or seven metres. Heaven knows what consequences they will suffer. Maybe Philadelphia London or Mumbay will become scuba-diving attractions...

When I said that y'all get all the good cars over there, I was not talking about the super cars that only the mega wealthy can afford. We get all of those here too, and I see them pretty regularly(saw a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport a few months ago). I was talking about the other cars that we either can't get here, or they are so rare that it is impossible to get them. Cars like the 2CV, the Cosworth Escort, the original Mini, the VW Lupo and so on just to name a few.

As far as the video you posted, well, that can be argued both ways. There is a reason why scientists and governments stopped calling it global warming and started calling it climate change. The last winter here was one of the coldest we have ever seen since records were started over 100 years ago. This summer was VERY mild, and the meteorologists believe this winter will be colder than the last one. Not only that, but the Arctic ice shelf increased in size by 29% as reported back in September of 2013.

With that being said though, my main means of transportation is my Mirage(instead of our 2007 Dodge 1 ton mega cab 4X4 diesel truck) that I got for the main reason of the incredible fuel economy. I also have solar panels (240 watts worth) in a small solar setup to have for backup power and to supplement power as needed, and my wife and I do other things to try to decrease our carbon foot print.

Back on topic, I got a set of new tires today. Sometime after I called yesterday, they sold one of the 175/70/14 tires that I wanted. That left the store with only 3 of those in stock so I had to choose a different size. I ended up going with a 175/65/14 tire instead. I also took the other 3 good tires that were on my car and I intend to sell them to other Mirage owners so they can more easily have back up tires. Plus, it is more ecological to pass these good tires on instead of them being disposed of.

Sounds good, what tire did you go with?
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

...And let's not forget those folks trapped in Antarctic ice whose melting they planned to photograph.

A Futuro tire from Pep Boys. Not really a name brand tire per say, but one with good reviews and in my price range. $328 for all 4, mounted, balanced, after tax, and road hazard warranty as well. For that amount, I could buy 2 of the stock size tires at the dealer and have them installed.

LOL Yeah, how many other ships got stuck trying to rescue the ship that first got caught in the ice sheet that was not supposed to be there?

It looks like one of the big tire chains here in MA is carrying a Bridgestone 165/65/14 and it even has the 2014 Mirage set up in their online system that directs you to these. They're $100 each though. That includes install. And you would still have to get 2 of them so they match, even if you only need one. But.. at least they carry them.

My Lancer has the 215/45/18, this size is usually not carried by tire shops. When I nailed my rear tire right next to the side wall, I purchased new tires from the Tire Rack.
For the road trips I purchased another spare wheel on 16-in steel rim (205/60/16).
