Interest in MAF sensor housing for custom air intake?

RalliArt_Mirage just did a great write up on how to hack up the factory intake box so you can add a custom CAI to the Mirage. This is essentially the part he created from the factory piece to hold the MAF sensor in his new CAI.

I was wondering if anyone has interesting having some of these parts made for us? If there is enough interest, we will look into having something made up, get pricing and all that good stuff.

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

I am interested, as I do not want to hack up my factory airbox... For warranty

    agreed.

if someone can find a part number for the sensor (that seems to be attached to the airbox) and maybe we can just go from there?

It may also be more inexpensive for our friends in the Philippines or Malaysia to see if they can get cheaper parts out of junk shops etc.

Why do you need another sensor? Its just screwed to the airbox.

Find out the part number for the airbox (and in some cases, you can even order pieces of the airbox, like the maf section), and buy another. I did this when I wanted to modify my under-hood scoop to direct airflow towards and under my short ram intake. Never smart to permanently modify an OEM part like that when you can easily (relatively cheaply) get a backup to experiment on. You will be hassled if have an issue with your motor and show up to the dealer ship with a mod like that, or want to trade/sell your car.

I agree, that is why you'd buy this maf sensor housing section instead of chopping up your OEM intake.

Bumping to see if there is anyone else interested in this piece? Or, would a full intake be a better solution?
