    I'm fairly content with mine too. Factory stereos have come a long way. Plus Mitsubishi is one of the piuoneers in electronics. Just google their stereos from the 1970s - it'll blow your mind !!!!!!!!!!

    Most people aren't aware that Mitsu used to be big sh... in the home audio market. That expertise was carried over to their cars.

    I mainly want more volume and I'd kinda like the 7" screen. I have no need for a backup camera or gps, at this time. The screen however, has a lot more info without having to scroll through pages.

    I see no reason why they would not fit as long as you do what I did. I am seriously looking at installing 7" mid bass drivers in the back doors on my Mirage.

    First I weighed them;

    Then I removed the cone and spider of the speaker revealing the basket of the speaker, which the mounting bracket for the speaker is incorporated into the speaker basket.

    A close up view of the speaker. Note that there is not an area on the speaker that could be used to mount a new speaker to it. So it does not look like the old speakers could be used to mount new ones in the factory way.

    Here is an angled view showing how the mount is made into the speaker. I see no way of reusing the stock mounts for new speakers.
    I just dremeled out the spider so that all that was left was the surround. Screwed a standard 6.5" speaker into the remaining surround, and it screws into the door in the stock manner without having to cut the door.

    Would have been great if you snapped a pic.
