Australia: Mitsubishi cuts Mirage price, adds equipment

Motoring.com.au is reporting Mitsu has moved to support the Mirage's excellent sales numbers with a reduced price and re-jigged equipment:

    • ES manual transmission (entry level Mirage): "$11,490 before on-road costs, $1500 cheaper than previously."
    • LS manual: $2000 price cut

They've refined the car as well:

    • more sound insulation
    • revised engine mounts
    • The engine itself is also quieter, according to Mitsubishi, through the use of "newly developed loss reduction technology."
    • ESS emergency stop system
    • cruise control and privacy glass in the LS

And rejoice: the arrival of the AWOL cargo light.

Plus a few other things. See the article for full details:

    Mitsubishi upgrades, down-prices Mirage hatch

If they did this elsewhere, there wouldn't be any Mirages on the lot!

Well, they did it in Canada too, and pretty much doubled sales.

Thread: Price war in Canada: base Mirage now $9,998 (plus delivery, dealer fees, etc.)

So since I already have mine, I miss out on the sound proofing which it badly needs, the quieter engine and boot light?
    Well that sucks..

Sounds like some much needed improvements. I find it odd they leave out small stuff like that.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

I can't hate on the upgrades/lowering of the price, but realistically it isn't that much. But hell, it's better than nothing.
