Lots of people around here really enjoy driving them.

    What were you driving before?

So far, the only thing I'm not ok with is the fact that this neat little car will eventually get it's ass kicked by the road salt here
I strongly second the advice to either do DIY rust prevention (see CrazyJerry's series on this), or take it to a shop that applies a rust prevention spray. They're common around here (eastern Ontario rust belt). They even drill access holes to get the spray inside panels & cavities, then close the holes with greased plugs. I've done this to several of my cars, and have it re-applied every few years.

    Thanks for the warm welcome
Maybe i'm not so peculiar !
Maybe it's the Press that's so peculiar (?)

I will look into undercoating before winter is upon us.
The Mirage replaced a trusty 2000 Ford Windstar 3.8L, that was`swilling a gallon every 18 miles or so, and succumbing to rust and miles.
Two past favorites were my 63 Beetle, and 68 Kadett 1.1L. . .

Everybody who has one and lives in the rust belt should do this, in my humble opinion.

Wow - the gas savings will practically pay for the Mitsu! $2500 a year to fuel the Ford (15k miles @ $3 USD/gal) vs. $1125 a year in the Mirage if you average 40 mpg US.

Nice. I've never driven a classic Beetle... there are a couple around town, and I eye them with some envy.
