Mirage zooms off with 49% of Mitsubishi market share (Thailand)

Looks like the Mirage is a huge hit in Thailand, and doing quite well overseas too!

Since being launched in the first quarter last year, 49,296 Mirages have been sold - almost 50 per cent of Mitsubishi's sales volume in Thailand, said Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) president Nobuyuki Murahashi.

The Mirage is a "global compact car" produced at a new third factory at MMTh's Laem Chabang Plant, the largest Mitsubishi plant and export hub outside Japan. As of last month, at least 109,300 vehicles were produced, with 54 per cent (almost 58,800) being for the domestic market and 46 per cent (50,500) for export.

"For the Thai market, we still have about 10,000 back orders and customers have to wait for approximately two months," he said.

Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

That amount of back orders is pretty amazing. In the Philippines as well.

They might have to open another plant to make these cars.

My goodness, does this mean that I have to wait even longer for my car to arrive in Europe?
