Thread: Cheap used Mirages you've seen for sale?

  1. #991
That paragraph is required in Ontario if a dealership is selling a used car without a mechanical/safety inspection certificate.

Everything I've ever bought said as is on the bill of sale. But I usually expect some surprises when I buy something that seems like a great deal.
If I were to buy that 1750 Mirage I'd be expecting a $1750 car not a $12000 one. It's gonna need tires, maybe a windshield and seems priced accordingly. I there are some buyers that may come back at the seller after buying a beater if their mechanic say's it's gonna need brakes or wiper blades soon. Regardless, that car seems like a great deal, it'll probably need a few things that someone could fix easily and on the cheap. Unless you are the type who'll take it to a dealer, bend over and take it dry like a champ

I would have expected brakes, tires, possibly a windshield and a CEL for that price. Oh, and a bent rear axle. :-D

Wally has already sourced a used drivetrain, just in case.

The speculation about who's going to buy the $1750 Mirage is over. I was there this AM, looked it over carefully, the seller handed me the key and said come back when you're satisfied and off I went. Everything worked, it ran well, no noises I haven't heard before, the oil was clean, the clutch held well and it's a 1 owner car. The tires will likely pass but I have a spare brand new set, just in case, the brakes were done recently so they should be OK (I'll pull a wheel to check).

It's an SE trim level so I'm getting the items I was going to upgrade on my 2017. Cruise, fog lights, 6 way heated seat, rear seat vents. It also has climate control, which I myself prefer. Considering the miles, the interior except for the driver's side carpet, is like near new. The original windshield is still perfectly clear. There's no stone chips (huh?) and just one small parking lot kiss.

All I plan for this one is tinted windows, weather tech mats and a better radio. And extended visors. As we know the factory ones are too small and flimsy.

I have this weird feeling my '17 is going to collect a lot of dust. Actually, on 2nd thought, it won't. I plan on giving my '17 to my daughter when she's done high school in the not distant future. I want her to have something 100% reliable for university so my '17 with extended warranty fills that bill. I also wanted to mileage down and hand it over to her with no more than about 50k on it. Now that I have the '14 I can do that.

This car came along at the right time for me, considering where I am in life and what I need to do.

Congratulations. Did the seller say why he was selling?

He got a good deal an a Subaru. He said their winters have been ice storms the last few years and he thought a 4x4 would be better.
