Thread: Cheap used Mirages you've seen for sale?

Rule of thumb: the amount of junk will always expand to fill available space.

I think I'm at a record high now.

I just gave 8 bills for the twin of this car, but with less than half the miles. Plus 11 grand in maintenance receipts, and almost 5 grand in goodies like skid plate, tune, racepipe, etc, etc, etc... I LOVE TDIs....

Wow... original owner, all maintenance receipts, 2 sets of wheels, only120 k kms =~75k miles. Front lower bumper cover is cracked.

    $2400 negotiable! In Montreal.

Apparently this seller hasn't heard that used car pricing is up.

If this were green or white, I'd be planning to go see it.

Yeah, $2,400 is under $2,000 USD for that car. That's unheard of here. I looked at what something like that would be around me locally.

This one is an upper trim level 2014 ES with 70,000 miles, & they are asking $10,000. Like always, there are errors in the listing. It's listed as a 5-speed manual, & I sorted by manual transmissions. Yet, the pics clearly show it's not a manual.

Does an upper trim level and CVT justify 5 times the price of the car you listed? We're talking about 7-year old cars already. Still quite young by today's standards, but prices sort blend together as cars get older. Mileage, wear/tear, & appearance starts to trump features as cars get older in my opinion.

Better deals can be found, but it's still like 3x or more the price of that car.

Yup, things are bonkers right now. But that's an extreme example - easier to find comparable cars around me for $4-6k. I suspect it'll be sold today (listed yesterday).

Okay since these cheap Canadian Mirages make me angry I decided to look about importing them to the US. Now, I remember that the Canadian cars don't have a stupid tire pressure warning system installed... Therefore, they CANNOT be imported unless the TPMS system can be installed and made functional using oem parts and installed by a dealer or other shop. So yeah, that's that when it comes to that. Stupid TPMS...
    -Karl B. No Mirages currently...

Here's someone who did it without OEM parts -

I read where someone was quoted $3,000 to have TPMS added to a Subaru. Yet, you can buy a complete system for for $30 on Amazon that does more than our Mirage TPMS.

I wonder if lack of backup cameras will be treated the same way for 2018+ vehicles from Canada, too?

  11. #1560
Canada actually adopted the U.S. backup camera requirement for 2018 and up.

Not sure why we skipped the TPMS.
