This one isn't too bad...from what I can see. It's a '15 DE with some extras (fog lights, chrome trim), decent looking aftermarket wheels (or they are just off of another kind of car), 54k, and a clean title.
I'll bet $4,000 would buy it.

Honda wheels?

Page not found! Must have sold.
Here's another one though:
Top spec 2014 5-speed with 237k km = 147k miles.
Asking $3000
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1455464720Great little car. Has heated seats, air conditioning, bluetooth, power windows. Used 95% of time on highway. Extremely cheap on fuel. Selling as is for $3000. No trades or lowballers thanks. Broken fog light on driver's side, some surface rust outside of rear tire wells. Can be seen on pictures. Will likely need new tires to certify.

There are some things that make a car like this appealing. They seem honest about the flaws (mostly surface rust). The price is low $3000 Canadian = $2,252 American. Even if you had to invest in new tires, brakes, and even a new clutch, the low price warrants putting some money back into it.
Since it's 5-year old car with almost 150,000 miles on it, they are most likely being truthful about the highway miles. I can't imagine racking up that type of mileage in the city.
You offer them $2,500 Canadian ($2,000 American). Pay cash, slap liability insurance on it, and you have a cheap beater car on your hands. I suspect one of forum members (Steve) is going to hit 300,000 miles without issue. This car may do the same? The main difference - This car is in a northern climate/salted roads, which creates rust. A person could have the surface rust removed and repaint it, but that would defeat the purpose of owning a cheap beater car.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first Mirage we've seen with rust on the body from salty conditions. It should be a point of reference for other owners taking anti-rust measures.
Too bad the picture isn't clearer - it might give us a better idea of how to prevent it. IE is it salt/dirt accumulating on the wheel arch lip? That's fairly common. Or is it coming through from the inside?

Yea MetroMPG you're right. I look underneath my 2014 Mirage (May 2013 build) and using Krown rust spray protection over the years has proven worthwhile.* I could see from day 1 spots that would eventually get rust spots, so now with 5 years of yearly rustproofing, my undercarriage is mint, besides the exhaust.. I drive winter and summer.
The stuff kinda stinks, and it's messy a bit but I think it's worth it.
*yearly spray done by Krown people, so the doors and hatch now have little rubber covers for small holes for spraying. In 1/2 hour, your car is good for a year or more.

Same one from a few posts back...

My theory: I bet they have already bought (or picked out) a new car and were offered peanuts for the Mirage as a trade-in -- it's got more than TWICE the typical kilometers on it for its age, after all. Thus the attempt for a private sale and willingness to drop the price so soon.
Tempting, but it's way too far away: 11 hours round-trip from here.
