Thread: Cheap used Mirages you've seen for sale?

  1. #1611
Yeah, I dunno! I never did have time to swap cables between my last & current Mirages to test that theory.

I'm pretty sure this car is now on Kijiji https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...6517?undefined

I found another town bicycle Mirage. Was listed a while back for $3200 at what looked like a used car lot. Then weeks or months later was listed for $3500. And now the same car is now on facecrack for $5500 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...c-ee080c598c08

I don't know how they put 40,000kms on it so fast?(Edit:I guess it was originally listed back in May)
I recall the fancy rear bumper valance that was also on the $3200 and $3500 listings.
Good deal for someone, buy it for under $4000, drive it for 6 months putting on 8000kms a month then try to sell it for over $1500 more than you paid! I kinda wish I jumped on that one but don't need any more cars atm.

Yeah, the disconnect between the 2 markets is kinda nuts.

I know it's not a Mirage & it's not cheep, but I thought some may like to see a 2000 Chevy Metro with only 400 miles for sale. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-chevrolet-metro/ It may bring back memories for some. Now, who wants to lock a Mirage away for 20 some years???

Wow...wonder what the back story on that thing is? Interesting that 20+ years later, the modern equivalent (Mirage) is still about the same price...

I always considered my brand new 1990 Ford Festiva as being a good deal ($5,300 after a $1,000 Ford rebate), but $5,300 in 1990 would be -

"$5,300 in 1990 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $11,123.51 today, an increase of $5,823.51 over 31 years."

    A $11,000 Metro in 2000 would be -

"$11,000 in 2000 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $17,522.71 today, an increase of $6,522.71 over 21 years."

I don't know if I have a point about all this, but being able to buy a brand new Mirage for under $10,000 felt like a pretty good deal at the time of my purchase in 2017. It many ways, it was probably a way better deal than the $5,300 Festiva in 1990.

I don't know what others look for in an economy car, but I value affordability, reliability, and economy. A highly discounted Mirage checks all those boxes quite well.

I consider my former 2000 Honda CRV LX AWD manual to be one of my better past purchases. I paid $12,000 for it in 2004. It had 20,000 miles on it, & I bought it from a private party (Green Bay). She was a registered nurse who used it as her winter vehicle and stored it during the summer months. It did everything I wanted an AWD vehicle to do without being flashy. I liked the size, seating, way it handled, & some of the quirks that came with that 1st generation design. The Honda CR-V lost my interest when they dropped the manual option with the 3rd generation.

Bring a trailer is an interesting website. They had a 1 owner Porsche 912 on there a while back. In a dark pewter grey, pristine interior. The car looked brand new. That's the website that sold that 2000 Civic Si for $100,000

Just outside of Montreal, about 2 hours away from here...

    Description

Roule tres bien , milleage d’autoroute , 1 seul proprietaire , jamais accidenté , carfax a l’appui. Model de base avec vitre electrique, pas d’air climatisé

Runs well, highway miles, 1 owner, no accidents, carfax available. Base model with power windows, no AC.

    164k kms = 102k miles.

    https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1591828687

Compared to my Mirage #3, this is a great deal: 10k fewer kms, 1 year newer, and assuming it really is mostly highway miles, the clutch should still be good. All for just $550 more than I paid for mine.

Thanks for posting that! Crazy. Current bid is $18k

I thought my '98 was a low-miles wonder, currently at 42k km / 26k miles. When I got it at 7 years old it only had about 2k km / 1200 miles on it.
