Cheap used Mirages you've seen for sale?

Does this qualify as a "good deal" these days?

$4500 CAD asking for a top spec pink Mirage 5MT with 170k km = 106k mi.

That's what I sold my 2014 Mirage (#2 Mirage) for in July 2021, although it only had 150k km on it.

If it weren't PINK, it would be a good deal ($4,500 CAD = $3358 USD).

And to think my 2014 when it was for sale in 2019 sat around the better part of 2-3 month maybe and there were several price drops? And even then the seller was willing to negotiate and I saved even more. AND he was kind enough to deliver the car to me from his place, which is 300 MILE round trip!! what an awesome guy. I reverse what I said about my 73 Vega being the best value for my car purchases.

There's no doubt my 2014 Mirage$1500+- $250 (I really forget what the actual cost was, if you recall I bought it not long after I came home from a 3 month induced coma ICU hospital stay so my circuits were scrambled.) is my all time nothing else really comes close best value car/bike/aircraft/gocart/skidoo/motorized gizmo I have ever bought and I'll bet if I live another 50 years nothing else will come close or god forbid, be a better deal.

I got lucky, my cheap '14 was a daylight car-jacking, my '17 was $11k all in and new. My kid will be off to uni in a paid off totally reliable 10 yr. old car with stupid low kms (maybe it will have <100KMs), I'll be driving a Mirage at roughly it's half life used up and in all likelihood my 275,000KM I4 5MT Saturn Vue will be in reserve. Total Mirage costs? ~$12.5k CDN! Counting my Vue brings my total to ~$16.5K CDN.

If I look at depreciating them all from 2017 to roughly 2032 (15 years which aligns with all sorts of events in my families life ) means my capital costs are roughly ~$1100/year or LESS THAN $100/Month! , excluding variable operating costs, ins. maint., and so on. Even the cost of lost money opportunities in this situation is pretty minimal.

So I don't get a shiny new lease every 3 years or new wheels every 5. I also don't have the uncertainty of trading a reliable ride for a lemon to be. (AFAIK Ontario has NO lemon laws) When I hear ads for leasing an "average" vehicle that cost $4-500/mo I SMH. Just how common is it for two car families to be in this situation? Imagine $1K/mo for leases???

Ages ago my vehicles defined who I was. I couldn't drive a 289-2V Mustang, it had to be a 429SCJ with 575hp stock. (in 1971 that was every high). I couldn't ride a Honda CB350, it had to be a Kawasaki Kz900, the venerable Z1. That changed at some point. For the better. Whatever I drive NOW is because it's for ME only, not a LOOK AT ME thing. I'm as proud and happy to drive my Mirage as my un-named sports car. I still get a kick from seeing my reflection in a giant store mirror when I'm in my Mirage! I'm not shy or uncertain when I see a pretty girl beside me at a stoplight. If anything I sit up straighter and smile wider if/when she glances over. I usually get a nice smile back.

Sorry that I wrote a book. It's a nice cathartic release for me.

I wouldn't exclude the 2020 Mirage, because it is really no different than the 2019, except for auto climate controls becoming standard for all in 2020. I would say good new car deals disappeared in May of 2021, & I don't see them coming back. Personally, I don't see the 2021-22 as being all that different either.

If it's out the door and not a base model in the case of Canada, ie. no A/C or power windows around $12k TOPS it's included. Could you get a 2020 in America OTD and not stripped down for that sum or preferably less.

Our base model has always had A/C, power locks with remotes, & power windows. I bought a 2017 Mirage in ES manual because I you could get one for $8,500 - $10,000 OTD depending on the rebates you qualified for @ White Bear.

I know someone who bought a 2021 Mirage ES manual for $10,400 OTD in early 2021.

Not stripped down? Meaning a non ES Poverty Modal, for under $12k? Probably not.

But like Mark said ... my 2020 ES (Poverty Model down here) 5-speed, came with A/C, cruise, power windows, the auto-climate downgrade. Mine was $11,429, base cost of the car, plus games and fodder.
