In DC that's a $300,000 house easily!

At least we're not in Vancouver, crazy high gas prices, stupid high house prices.

You got a point there, and I'm basically the same with my house. The thing with Canada anyways is real estate some areas doubled in 3 years, so now property taxes are already on the up and up. Then even low interest rate mortgages you give the bank so much in interest. You can't win unless you are born wealthy maybe.
My point is that people get into spiraling debt sometimes only because they just need the food or toilet paper that day or right.
It's sad, but whole banking system is designed to get you shackled in debt instead of looking long term into mutual funds, real estate, etc.
Sorry off topic the Mirage is very economical!

Wow. $37,000!
That doesn't buy you a tool shed in my neck of the woods. I have a nice 1200sf house in a good neighborhood I paid $175,000 for in early 2014. It is worth $280,000 now...! Housing prices have gotten crazy anywhere within striking distance of Seattle.
Couldn't have done it without the help of a bank.
I bought when prices were high in 13' paid 265 for a tiny 2 story. Prices came down a bit since then, I dumped 20k into it last summer and sold it for 265. Thankfully had enough equity to pay off the reno and have money for down payment on a bigger place. Hardest part I found buying the first place was coming up with 5% down payment when living cheque to cheque.

This 2014 base, 5-speed no-A/C Mirage with 77k kms (48k miles) popped up in my alerts recently in Ottawa:
Asking price: $4250 https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...dId=1448158341
I contacted the owner to ask how long they had owned it, and they replied, "only a few months... we bought it for our son and he doesn't want to drive it."
What an odd story.
Then I remembered there was another Kermit green Mirage in Ottawa for sale a couple of months ago. It was advertised for quite a while, and the asking price was reduced as low as $3200. It had a small dent on the passenger side ... JUST LIKE THIS ONE!
Same 77k kms on both cars. Same dent. Hmmm....
This more expensive one has a pinstripe and different mirror caps, though.

Fummins (08-02-2019)
This one's been re-advertised asking $4000, down from $4600.
It's still a little too expensive for the amount of kms on it, but the seller is obviously coming to that realization with the price drop. It's been for sale since June 10th!

Interestingly, he dropped his reference to buying another Mirage in the description. That's what initially caught my attention.
He should have at least advertised it at $3900 instead of $4k. Basic marketing, people!

Hmmm...I bet $5K in cash would buy this car. Not a bad deal for somebody on a nearly new car...

It's at a used car dealer in Montreal.
80k kms = 49700 miles is pretty low for a cheap Mirage.
There's some damage to the front bumper, and it's missing a hubcap. The number on the windshield suggests they picked it up at auction.
