Thread: Cheap used Mirages you've seen for sale?

  1. #1131

    got me a fancy Metro

^ Opposite ends of the province!

Yup, I took the bus to Toronto yesterday, and am staying with old friends (I grew up here). Took transit to the dealership this AM (holy moly, that was a trek), and test drove the car:

The car is fine. It needs brakes ASAP (thus low fluid - that's why the light was on, Fummins) - which I fully expected - and a few other minor things. Cosmetically, it's pretty ugly - considerably rougher than the pics and videos showed.

But everything works and it's SO MUCH FREAKIN NICER TO DRIVE than the Miata, Metro or Firefly! This car is going to spoil me. (You know you're used to living at the bottom of the automotive food chain for a long time when getting a loaded Mirage makes you feel like you've finally arrived! )

$2400 plus tax, and no shady tacked-on dealer fees. A great deal. I'll make a garage thread later.

It turns out the car was bought at the Mitsu dealer right next door to the Toyota dealer where it was traded (she traded it on a RAV4 hybrid, BTW). I am really glad I decided to trek over and visit the the Mitsu service department, because they say their dealers are not networked. At least not in Canada - don't know about elsewhere.

So the extremely helpful receptionist printed out the car's service history for me. On top of that, it's had all the recalls done. Bonus.

First thing I always do when I have a car with wheel locks is take them off, throw them in garbage and replace them with normal ones. I've lost track how many times I go to work on something and the wheel lock key is either gone or burried in a glove box full of tampons, condoms, lube, drugs, traffic tickets, obituary pamphlets or other random crap I'd rather not have to sift through. I'm guilty of forgetting to put them back once in a while too.

Yeah, I haven't even looked for the lock key yet, but I'll be surprised if it's in the car.

All that's in my glovebox: the manuals, and A BUNCH OF USED, FAKE FINGERNAILS. Thanks, classy Mirage lady!!

If I remember right the Mitsubishi wheel lock key is actually stored in the back where the spare tire is with the lug wrench. I put mine in the glove box instead of leaving it back there.

Hello MetroMPG and welcome to the forum.

Feel free to make a Garage entry:

I've been waiting a long time to post that.
