Thread: Mirage acceleration times: 0-62 mph / 0-100 km/h and top speed (1.0L & 1.2L engines)

    Mirage acceleration times: 0-62 mph / 0-100 km/h and top speed (1.0L & 1.2L engines)

These figures are for the UK spec cars:

    Engine/Trans 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) Top speed
    1.0L, 5MT manual (Mirage "1") 13.6 seconds 107 mph (172 km/h)
    1.2L, 5MT manual (Mirage "2" and "3") 11.7 seconds 112 mph (180 km/h)
    1.2L, CVT (Mirage "3") 12.8 seconds ?

Since the manual "3" has the larger, 15 inch wheels than the manual "2", I wonder just how accurate the 11.7 figure is.

After all, the manual "3" scores slightly lower fuel economy than the manual "2", a reflection partly of the added mass (rotational and static) between the 2 cars. I would have thought that difference would also show up in acceleration times, even if just by a few 10ths of a second.

On the topic of top speed,

Mitsubishi says this makes it faster than its competitors which include the VW Up, Suzuki Splash, Toyota Aygo/Yaris, Kia Picanto, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Nissan Micra, Mazda2 and Chevrolet Spark. - source
UPDATE: figures for the US spec car:

    Engine/Trans 0-60 mph (97 km/h) 0-80 mph (129 km/h) 0-90 mph (145 km/h) Top speed
    1.2L, 5MT manual
    1.2L, CVT
    Car & Driver
    10.9 sec 21.3 sec 32 sec 102 mph (164 km/h)
    1.2L, CVT

    Other stats from C&D:
    • Standing ¼-mile: 18.3 sec @ 75 mph
    • Braking, 70-0 mph: 184 ft
    • Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.74 g

    Other stats from Motorweek:

    • Standing ¼-mile: 18.8 sec @ 75 mph

    UPDATE: Australia

    Engine/Trans 0-60 km/h (37 mph) 0-100 km/h (62 mph)
    2016, 1.2L (non-roller cam), CVT 6.6 sec 13.8 sec

Those are plenty reasonable times for a daily commuter (aka not race car).

Doesn't matter. You'll be stuck behind a car that does 0-60 in 5 seconds as they slowly trundle up the onramp, or away from the stoplight. I've never felt my car was too slow - always held up by others in traffic.

The Mirage has never felt it needed more power. My Aveo had over 30 more hp and even when I punched it, it would never leave traffic behind it. The Mirage? That thing can pull away from a light with some vengeance; it's actually a little comical.

I fully agree!!!!! The mirage goes fast enough!! Besides its top speed is over a 100 miles per Hour!!!! Why do you need to go faster then that? For What? A early Grave????Lol

55mph, 2750 rpm, 55 mpg. Beat that. That's 4125 injections a minute 247,560 in one hour, using 128 ounces of gasoline. 1934 injections per ounce of fuel.

I don't need another vehicle with the exception of the only other one left in the garage. Maybe after that I'll build some funky old antique bike recreation, with that Honda Diesel engine.

My apologies, I had to correct my math from 4 cyl to 3 cyl, still amazing precision.

Going late to a very important appointment I averaged 85 mph for 80 miles. At times I felt like taking off the asphalt (or getting the biggest ticket of my life), but the little Mirage proved to have more than enough power for its limitations.
