    alex16 2014 ES 5MT Upgrade, build thread

I bought my Mirage with 140 miles on the odometer. I figured I would start a thread logging all the upgrades I have made along the way.

    Dealer pics

Home at last with the Jeep

I don't have a picture of my first upgrade but it was Bosch Icon wipers, they might be more aero dynmaic (who knows) but they are for sure better than the stock ones 16a and 24a (walmart carries the 24a for 18.00 and if you order online, pick up in store advance auto parts carries the 16a 13.99)

The side markers and the headlight parking lights changed to led.

Then I changed the type of led from 4 forward to 5 all around type led for the headlight. I also changed the license plate lights to led, and the front dome light.

(this is a night picture with the forward facing 4 led 194s)

The beam is focused and bright but I like the bulb below as it illuminates the entire housing.

Yes. That they are. I wouldn't mind upgrading to LED headlight bulbs in the future when they have some available that don't blind people, for now my halogens are great. I might upgrade my fog lights to HID though, for those limited vision mountain grades through the thick fog we get all the time.

make sure you get the right color HIDs. Fog + bright colors will actually blind you.

    Hi there,
I just got a price quote on that very car before New Years!

Lots on luck with it, looks sharp in white!

    Thank you!

I do love it in the white!

I tried to do the first oil change myself with a filter socket and ramps in the empty parking lot I normally try to work on all my cars at (this was a few days ago when it was 40 degrees and decent outside). I could not get that filter off for anything, I used a socket that fit tightly over the factory filter but it still stripped out the "flutes" on it, I tried a band clamp filter wrench but it was too tight to get, I called a friend that works at the lube express at walmart and he said he could get it. It took him and 3 of his co workers to carefully position the 3 claw type oil socket and extension and crank it off. He told me its rare you see them on that tight and hopefully the rest of the car is bolted together that tight haha!

So now my first oil change is done with 466 on the odometer. I used a Napa Gold FIL 1356 and Mobile 1 Fuel economy 0w-20 full synthetic. My local Napa carries the oil I always read about and want for my next oil change, Eneos 0w-20 full synthetic for 31.00/gallon. It would be nice to do a dyno run on this mobile 1 and then change it and run it again to see if it helps any and what kinda numbers the north american mirage is putting down.

466 mi? Is it not better if you change at longer interval? .... I changed mine the first time at 20.000 KM and no complaints whatsoever up till now (40.800 KM), I did follow the manual after the first oil change (for heavy use change oil every 10.000 KM) so this would be the 3rd oil change next week at around 41.400 KM.

Use a good Amsoil oil and change the oil every 10.000/20.000 KM will save u money (especially if your credit score are already low, every penny you can save will be good).
