This DE (base model, no fog lights) seemed to have a foglight switch. Did I miss something or did Mitsubishi make a mistake with the wrong stalk?

Mitsubishi is well known to prepare all of the cables, they just have to activate or deactivate it electronically. So it's possible that they have one stick for all models but the fog light switch will not work if u don't have fog light installed (duh)

I just looked at mine today. I knew I had the switch from day one, and today I confirmed my suspicions that it is wired and ready to go. I am not sure if there is a fuse in place yet as I didn't have time to take a multimeter to it. I will update later in the week as I am looking into getting some aftermarket LED fog lights for the catfish.

Yup, they are all like that, at least in the US.
Mitsubishi does this on more than just the mirage. My old Mighty Max was wired up for all manner of things that it didn't have on it when new.
It's cheaper to build ONE wiring harness, ONE set of switchgear, and put it on all of the cars.
This is also the reason drive up ATM'S have braille on the keypads - The company making the machine only has to make one machine, instead of one with braille and one without.
Mine is a base model 2015 and has the switch.. Fernand

Weird, my 2014 DE doesn't have a fog light switch on the stalk.
My girlfriend's '14 DE does not have the switch. This may have been a running change?
