Philippine Mirage Safety Recall for units with Antilock Brake System

    Taken from MMPC website: http://www.mmpc.ph/latestnews/mmpc-m...-campaign.html

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has recently announced to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that it will conduct a safety recall of the Mitsubishi Mirage GLS models equipped with Antilock Brake System both for manual and automatic transmission variants.

The purpose of this safety recall is to replace the front wheel speed sensors. These sensors were found to have insufficient waterproofing if penetrated by water from rain and/or during carwash may cause the ABS system not to function correctly. The replacement procedure is estimated to take an hour and is free of charge. Coverage of this safety recall are units sold from November 2012 to March 2013.

Although there has been no reported accident as a consequence of this problem, MMPC was directed by its principal, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Japan to voluntarily conduct this safety recall as its proactive commitment to quality and consumer safety.

Mr. Hikosaburo Shibata, President and CEO of MMPC said that MMPC has already mobilized its Customer Relations Department to contact all the customers with Mirage GLS models. He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to do the necessary inspection and repair on all affected units.

MMPC will be issuing out the Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) of the 1,420 units of Mirage vehicles affected by this campaign in our website at www.mitsubishi-motors.com.ph. Customers may enter their VIN in the website to check if their unit is included in the recall. In addition to this, all affected customers will be notified in writing through registered mail.

Once verified as included in the recall through the website or upon receipt of the letter, owners are requested to contact the Mitsubishi Customer Care Center (CCC) at (+632) 658 - 0673 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm to schedule the repair of their unit in any authorized Mitsubishi Service Center. They can also contact MMPC Customer Care Center for additional concerns and inquiries.
