How is the interior noise after the cat back system was installed?

When it was first installed it was louder than I originally wanted but I grew to like and I hardly notice it while driving on long road trips or around town.. also to put it into perspective I don't have to talk very loud to hold a conversation nor do I have to turn the music up super loud to hear it either

Same here, even with how extensively I modified the exhaust even at high rpms it's still very civilized in the cabin.

I love the sound of mine it's very mellow. I also retained the stock muffler location and went with a muffler that was a lttle bigger than the diameter of the new pipes the shop put on.

Finally got my cat back exhaust system. Got the same set up as bkessinger1109 with the AP turbo style muffler and ran 2 inch all the way out after second cat.

Wasn't this proven that changing the muffler will result in power loss?

Is told by a company that ive never heard of before xoming to this forum saying no exhaust will improve power.

The issue is low end vs high end. A quick and easy not so accurate calculation for CFM the engine takes in, is hp x 2.5. So 78 x 2.5 is 195 cfm. Add in hot temps and stitch more for fuel, you end up with a cfm release number. As is, the stock exhaust of 1.5" outer diameter according to other pipe estimations can flow about 190-200 cfm effeciently, which is the range our motor without heat/fuel calculation. So, idealy, the stock exhaust isnt setup for power as no stock car is in the budget range.

Now i own a mirage like many here, i have the 5mt, its decent on the low end torque wise, and snippy 3-4500, but iver 4500 there is nothing there power wise. Literally 5th gear at 100mph the car will not accelerate any faster, its not a fuel cut or speed limiter, it just cant breathe on the top end. The stock exhaust literally chokes the engine, but in return city driving and low speeds are snippy as hell. I can chirp second in this low powered eco car.

So on that note, another thread i wrote it out, i will here.

If you plan to stay stock but just want an exhaust, either stick with oem size and just swap out muffler and rez for aftermarket high flow, or go to 1.75 pipe size. If you plan to do intake header, and other mods like timing and fuel, 1.75-2.00 inch, if you plan to turbo, 2.25 but no bigger. mind you until the turbo is installed the engine will feel off and not play nice at 2.25.

The company who said aftermarket exhaust gains no power but actually loses power, gave zero details other than their word and a dyno graph, for all we know they threw a fat 3" system like other larger jdm motors and expected wow results and facepalmed..... without their complete info including different exhausts and hoe they were built, i can only assume they are too new of a company to make such claims.
