    ScanGauge E - Mounting Location

I picked up a cheap, used ScanGauge E on eBay and had been trying to decide where to mount it. I went through several options: above the gauge cluster (long ugly wire run), underneath the AC/heat controls (too low to see, might bump it when shifting).

I finally decided that on top of the left hand air vent would be the best. I was concerned that because of the curve, such a small contact area of Velcro might not be sturdy enough, but it seems to be plenty sturdy. It's easy to see without having to take my eyes off the road, and there's only the short bit of cable running out of the back. The cable runs behind the rubber trim covering, excess wire coils by the hood release, and in it plugs. I might look into removing the panel that covers the electrical connections and seeing if I can safely route the cable completely behind the dash.

I finally got around to routing the cable inside the lower left kick panel. That's a lot of wiring harnesses and connectors in there! I never did kick it while shifting, but it still bugged me, so I'm glad that it's out of the way now.

I placed my Scangauge2 all the way down/below the climate controls, to the bottom of the dash. It sits directly above the spot where you place the fast key incase the fast key's battery dies. Doesn't take my eyes off the road any more than looking at the radio or climate control would. I have mine mainly for voltage and water temp, so I don't need to look at it constantly.

I have mine mounted above the center vents on the top of the dash. The wire tucks right behind the steering wheel and tightly hugs the dash around the radio/aircon center. I'm always more worried about my cell phone charger in the cigarette port wrapping around the shifter than the scangauge.

Even if the thread is a bit old..

Do you have a picture of it?
I where thinking about to mount my SG2 under the climate control sensor, but Velcroduct tape won't hold it there.

So now I'm thinking about to lose the panel under the climate control to put some kind of DIY mount in here ..

^ let me know where you end up mounting it. I have a spare phone that I can use with a bluetooth OBD2.
