    usb port (device charging?)

Can the usb port in the glove compartment be used for charging a device or is it strictly used to connect a device. I haven't found anything on this in the manual.

Shortly, yes. Any USB port can supply charge. However, the current might not be enough to fully charge the device on every circumstance. For example, it may not charge the phone if you are using it for GPS navigation becuase of the device high power consumption.

It depends on which modelyear Mirage you have. If you have one of the early ones from 2013 it wont charge anything. Somewhere mid 2014 models and forward the port will charge Phones and all sort of kinds chargeble stuff besides reading usb sticks.
