    Accessory question - racks, mudflaps

I want to put front mud flaps (splash guards) on the Mirage.

Are the factory ones the way to go? Are there better aftermarket options? My main concern is driving gravel roads and having the paint sanded off the rockers.

Also, I am looking for a rear-mounted bike rack. I've never used one, as I've never had a car I couldn't stuff a bike in before. I probably could fit a bike in, but don't want to grease/tear any upholstery just yet. Any suggestions on features to look for, or specific models? It looks like Thule makes a roof rack, so I'll be getting one of those when I can afford it.

I have, yes. Those are the factory ones i believe, and of course they look very nice. I just thought I would ask in case someone made an aftermarket version that was in some way better (tougher, cheaper, easier to install?)

I'm sure my dealer can get the genuine ones in, so I might go that route.

Those guards stick on with 3M tape I believe, I was talking with the parts guy at the dealership and he said most all the exterior stuff is stick on.

I'm 69 are you talking the old style mud flaps that bolt on to the inside of the wheel wells?

I hadn't seen those in particular, but had seen some other "universal custom fit" which sounds like an oxymoron, and reviews said they were custom just as soon as you got out the shears and customized them for yourself! I want some that fit well the first time. Similarly, that is good news about the tape. I wasn't keen on drilling through whatever paint and galvanization was on the car, especially in an area that gets the worst sand/salt/water spray.

I'm thinking a few years down the road, the rockers will get a coat of Line-X anyway, but as added protection, the splash guards will be installed. The rear ones I don't think I will put on - everything behind the rear wheel seems to be plastic anyway.

Mitsu parts say the stick on come with alcohol swabs to clear the wax for sticking, he also said once stuck and after a day or so in the suns heat you would break them before you could pull them off . . . so the parts guy says!!!

Cchataway,,, I have both of thoses mud flaps that I need to put on. But haven't got to them yet you take the last two plastic rivets off towards the bottom of the fender well and then you have to drill a whole to put another rivit under the bottom. And I think there's some 3 m tape on there two
