Post Hanging stuff inside a Mirage with magnets

    Hello,

I thought I'd share my latest dome light solution for the rear seats in my Mirage.
I've used strong magnets to attach a headlight onto the central roof pillar. These magnets have a nominal pull force of 30.5 lb and are just strong enough to hold the weight of the flashlight and resist wobbling around in speed bumps. It would also work to not screw the light on the flashlight and just lock it onto the magnet itself (the magnet snaps to alkaline batteries), but then I would lose the possibility to change the tilt of the flashlight. This contraption allows to rotate and tilt the light freely around.

    Points for improvement:
-the felt fabric in the roof increases the distance between the roof metal and a magnet, which is why an even stronger magnet would be favorable to also allow hanging it at other locations. With the current magnet, I can only hang it onto the central pillar or onto the exposed metal parts in the trunk or around the windows.

-it can be used to hang other stuff in a Mirage. My next project is to hang my GPS onto the dash with some magnets as well (bought too many of these)

Nice idea. Does it do a good job lighting up the back seat?

I also find that the plastic trim that rolls up onto the dash from the radio is perfectly flat and allows stable GPS mounting using the suction pad.

well, i saw this thread for how to install rear passenger light.

    here is my effort.
after manage to find some head light with red color, that almost matching red mirage color, in nearest acehardware. i accidentally found nice place for the lamp. i put it on the car seat organizer Velcro ties. let's the picture explain the rest. other things, because i use head light, you can down tilt the torch to find the most comfortable position.

hey, I like the velcro solution a lot. I thought about it, but was too scared to try it in fear that it would pull the fibers of the ceiling pad away. Did you encounter any such issues? How much weight can you put onto the velcros?

I also like the chair hanger, i.e., any solution to add storage is great.

Concerning the lighting by night: I have to admit, I haven't tried it so far :-)
    Will do it tonight..

I only wished I could screw something to the roof...

The light i used has 3 AA sized battery + the Light Housing so it has a decent weight to it but it hasn't move a bit since i stuck it to the roof. Regarding your concern for fibers being pulled there is some but very minimal when i tried to reposition my light. By the way i used the velcro with sticky tape on it for the whole backside of the light base. I just wish i could find a smaller and better looking light.
