How's your car doing with those tires? What did you end up going with?
Out here the roads have been icy and I don't remember the last time it was warmer than -20c. I've been starting to think maybe a wider(185/60) would be better for when the roads/highways are glare ice.
If you've ever seen russian dash cam videos where it looks like the roads are perfectly clear but then cars start spinning out for no apparent reason, that's what it's been like here.
I've have 175/65/14s and they're better than stock but are so narrow there's just no footprint. I was barely able to get keep up with traffic the other night. Highway was icy and pretty windy. If I didn't drive like there was an egg on the gas pedal the car would spin and front end slide into the other lane. I'm blaming that on the combination of light car, hard tire compound(cheap), and pizza cutter tires.
But now today it's 30 degrees warmer and the roads are slush so now I prefer skinny tires until it gets icy again. If I still have this car next winter I'll be going with studded tires. There's no way I'd attempt a trip into the okanogan this winter with the way the car handles right meow.
