Metro , I watched that u tube about the Fiat Twin Air, and checked to see if you can Get it Here in the U.S. ? Nope!!! Maybe that's Good For the Mirage. I guess it's claiming to get Great Gas mileage. But those Fiat 500 models are smaller then the Mirage. And More Exspensive !

The Fiat 500 is retro styled, has the option of more powerful engines and crash test results have been very good when the car was introduced to the market. But beside this I think the Fiat 500 is a really bad car. No place inside and I don´t like the look.

Fuel consumption of the 2-cylinder engine is really high, not comparable with the 3-cylinder in our Space Star/Mirage, though Fiat claims a lower fuel consumption in the NEFZ fuel cycle.

Just have a look at the cars at spritmonitor:
    Fiat 500 Twinair
    Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2

Fiat drivers in the forums tell you, that the car is so much fun to drive and therefore fuel consumption is that high. But more than 50% higher than the NEFZ result?
    Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2:
    Daihatsu Cuore L251:

I had a 95 Geo Metro, and then replaced it when the lease was up with a 98 Chevy Metro. Both were 5-speed manuals, 2-door hatch, red. LOVED my Metros!!

My 2014 CVT Mirage is definitely a step up, but I miss the manual transmission a little, even while loving the convenience of the automatic. So many upgrades from my Metros, which were no power anything, so I wouldn't trade back, but still, miss the little tomatoes.

Also have a 2014 Jeep Trailhawk, and 2005 Ford Escape FWD, and nursing along the last manual, a 2003 Suzuki Aerio. There's only two of us, so I guess I'm car hoarding at the moment, but it's just a matter of time for the Suzuki and the Ford to go, and my partner puts LOTS of miles on the cars he drives, so I'll just let him run those old ones into the ground since they're paid off.

Edited to add: Forgot I had a Chevy Sprint back in the late 1980's. Don't remember what year it was, but was in TX, no A/C, and the floor under the driver's feet had rusted out and a piece of plywood was placed over it. Loved the car, but was not much fun in TX summers. Even the dog refused to get in when it was hot out. lol

The Fiat 500 is only for looks and fun factor. There's not much practicality to it. It is more expensive, doesn't get as good gas mileage - and being a Fiat ... it probably isn't going to be that reliable. A Mirage or Spark are cheaper and larger inside and should be more reliable (Spark has questionable reliability it seems).

M88, I liked your post!! That's what I thought about the Fiat also, thier sporty but Real Small!!! And more exspensive!!! I think if the Mirage was just More Sporty and new stiffer springs in the back and fancyer interior, they would Really sell.

I have driven various small cars and vehicles like the Fiesta are a bit more fun to drive than the Mirage. But what I don't understand is WHY. They are ALL strut style front suspension and twist beam in the rear ... they are all more alike than different.

This seems to be another common trait of Metro owners.
