Thread: Geo Metro roll call: did you own a 3 cyl car before Mirage? (Suzuki, Smart, etc)

    BUMPing the roll call!

cwatkin's intro thread (Hello from Rolla, MO) made me think I should bump this one.

    poll added

With the influx of new owners due to the insane $3500 factory discount, it seems a good time to bump this thread.

Also: I added a poll. Even if you've already replied, go cast your vote up top!

Closest I got was driving a Metro rental - I think it was through Enterprise. I think it had the four-cylinder engine. Reminded me of my old Dodge Colt big time.

    Congrats & welcome.

I still scan the classified ads for Metros. It's a hard habit to break!

I've owned several Metros over the years. My favorites are the 89-94 body style and in particular the 89-91 vacuum advanced distributor setup with dash buttons around the speedo housing. I currently have a 93 Geo Metro convertible which I break out in the summer and a 1990 red hatchback that I'm rehabbing and should have on the road in the next few months.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if there were many 1.0L engine rentals. Because they would all be automatics, they would have gone with the 1.3L 4-banger. The automatics in the Metros were horrid: agricultural era 3-speed slushboxes! No lock-up torque converter.

I bought my 2000 Metro hatchback in April 2013, and it wasn't long until I bought my 1993 Metro convertible in May 2013. And a few weeks ago I bought myself a brand new Mirage. All little 3 cylinder, 5 speeds.
