2005 smart fortwo diesel, I think the engines (3a92 and the 0m660) share some common heritage, I know for a fact they both use timing chains for example

The Mirage was my Frist 3cly , and once I test drove the CVT and a 350 pound sales man in the Back seat and we went down the road just fine! And went up and down hills just fine, and went on the freeway over the speed limit! I was Sold!!! I thought if this car could do that just fine I was Happy with the 3cly engine! And I love the 10yr warraunty .so I've had mine for a year and 4 months and i still love the car!

I still have yet to own a Mirage, but have had a variety of 3-cylinder cars. In high school, I had a 1993 Geo Metro as my first car. In my mid-20's, a 1987 Subaru Justy as a secondary commuter car. And in the past five years, I've owned a 1988 Daihatsu Charade with only 55k miles as a collector car and a toy. I love efficiency of all of them, and the three-cylinder's rugged, raspy sound is always fun to listen to

Ha! In some ways that's twice as good! In others...

A friend recently offered me his '98 BMW 328 for a few hundred bucks. Sweet inline 6, manual transmission. The car's even roadworthy, but completely filled with electrical gremlins, and as tempted as I am I don't need another project.

No 3 cylinder for me until now.

When I look at my car history I went from 8 cyl to 6 cyl to 4 cyl, and now 3!!

    What's next 2 cyl! lol

    P.S. I already had a 1 cylinder if I can count motorcycles!

Ha! You got me thinking, and there actually is one new car with a 2-cylinder engine that's available in the U.S. & Canada.

First I thought of the Fiat 500 TwinAir, but you have to go across the pond to have one of those: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csax_LrCy9I
