    New shift knob 5MT

Finally got my shift ball in today! Had to install it right away and try it out. With my big hands it feels so much better, and with all the rowing I do I felt the nice oem shift knob would be worn down quickly.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/321560257787...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

$32 shipped and it has a decent weight to it, google says 5.5oz for a billiard ball, I know the original leather weighs next to nothing.

For future reference shift knob threads are M10x1.25

That piece of metal showing is going to kill me... Any plans of making it look pretty?

Nah, this is exactly how I like it. I used to use a Razo white knob for a long time but the hex head at the bottom of the ball was built in and not removable, I like everything smooth, it came with a thin brass lock nut but I chose not to use it.

I like feeling the smooth shift lever, I really like the mechanical view of the shift mechanism but I'll keep my Mirage oem.

Makes me miss my MR2, it was perfect inside (for me) computer speakers zip tied to the dash bar (so was the gauge cluster) a heater core from a F150 mounted to the dash bar with a MR2 side vent fan to defrost the windshield. It was so basic yet so much fun, I drove this car from Houston to NYC , had over 260k miles (hard miles) before it threw a rod.

    Love the wood.

Maybe paint the metal part black?

Paint is for people concerned how it looks, I flat blacked the entire car, it was all about the drive for me. Car was crushed 3 years ago when I couldn't find anyone to pay $300 on Houston imports with the blown 4age. Scrapped the shell for almost 200 and got 100 for the wheels and tires, then got 100 for other parts.

With some sunlight heating the knob I was able to tighten it a little more to get the 10 straight.

Wow what a difference, it feels so good shifting now, so smooth and easy. I really enjoy this knob and put it up there with the rear sway bar as far as driving mods.

Looks great. It's amazing how much a shift knob improves driving enjoyment. Good stuff.

I was talking about the visible metal part on your mirage's shifter.

Yeah that's one of my favorite parts I like to feel some metal when driving, car is covered in plastic. Kinda like Arnold in terminator, I like the all metal version hAha.
