What is the fully extended/compressed length of the shock? I do not feel like taking it off just to measure

I measured about 25" with it mounted on the car, but the car was on jack stands with all the weight supported by the chassis and the suspension at full extend.

    Hello,

I'm planning on getting the ultra racing front strut bar and rear anti-roll bar. I was offered these pulled from VW jetta 1.8t mk4 springs Neuspeed 55.10.73R. Do you guys think it would workout well for my mirage or is it much better to use a VW Beetle spring? Name: 12016674_10207793037885562_406937221_n.jpg

Can't tell. Best thing to do is compare them to the VW Bug springs as far as size.

Definitely going to raise the rear end up although the VW springs have fewer complete coil turns than the Mirage's. Looks like the VW has 5 and the Mirage's have 7. Guess you won't really know until you try.

Has anyone that has upgraded to the VW Beetle springs gotten an alignment done, and was there enough adjustment to have a proper alignment done?

I have not; because I thought there is nothing to adjust with the rear setup. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    EDIT:
I should probably get the fronts adjusted as the rear is now lifted.

No, you are right. There are no adjustments available on the rear of the car. I was more wondering about the front of the car for Toe and Camber adjustment. If there is not enough camber adjustment, we might be able to use crash bolts as a way to get more camber up front.

I want to install these springs, then install a trailer hitch to carry a mobility scooter. The extra height on the rear end would prevent the carrier from dragging, but I don't want to put the front springs on unless the front end can be properly aligned.

You can use camber adjustment bolts (they are usually ~$15 for pair) and I think OEMs are 14mm. Depending on which you get they will give you from -1 to +1 or from -1.75 to +1.75 camber adjustment.

When you're doing toe sharpie original position; one click on adjustment nut is ~0.2deg toe. To compensate for -1.75 neg camber and keep original toe, you roughly need 2 1/3 turns. This is from different car but all McPhersons are similar, so it will get you in ballpark.

Alternatively you can just take a round file and slot top mount on strut. As I recall ~2mm correspond to 1deg camber, just mark the center before you start filing.
