Australia: 2013 Spark, Mirage, Micra, Alto And Up Comparison Review

A decent comparison of the different Mirage competitors in the under $15k range in Australia.

The author does seem pretty critical of certain aspects of the cars, so take things with a grain of salt. He also doesn't even mention fuel efficiency (aside from showing the specs) which I would think is a key aspect of why people would buy a smaller car.

For those not wanting to read the whole article, the Mirage would have taken 2nd place behind the Up, but it broke the $15k limit.

How much sense does it make to disqualify the Mirage because its optional CVT pushes the price past $15k, and then award first place to the VW Up, which doesn't even *offer* an automatic!

Also, the review highlights the benefits of the Mirage's light weight:
    - 1st place in emergency stopping distance, and
    - 2nd place (tied) in their acceleration test

I like this about the brakes.
Its braking performance was best of the group, stopping in just 14.9 metres from 60 km/h.

And the manual version of Mirage is a little quicker than a CVT.

    So, 1st place?

The CVT is much smoother than most classic automatic transmission and, of course, smoother than the robotized ones. So, the CVT is an ideal choice for a city driving.
