    Wife wants HID

My wife informed me that she would like to have HID headlights and fog lights like our other two cars have. Has anyone installed HID headlights and with no computer problems in their Mirage? I read where folks have changed out some sort of light and things start shutting down via the Mirage's computer.

Any advice or reflection on this issue will be appreciated.

Been thinking about a pair of these. Plug and play. 20 watts on low, 40 watts on high

Thanks for your reply. Unless the lumens are different with High Intensity Discharge lights, 20 and 40 watts don't seem like much when regular headlights are normally 45/55 watt. I found thee;http://www.xenonhids.com/dual-beam-b...tabs_color-tab

The regular halogen headlights 55/60 watt put out about 1650 lumens. The LEDs are twice as bright drawing less power.

Is that $65 per bulb? If so, that's quite expensive.

I'm thinking about going the HID lights route with these. Haven't decided yet though

Yes, LED's are more expensive but draw less power. Popular with the motorcycle crowd due to reduced power draw and limited alternator capabilities of bikes. I'm interested in LED's for the Mirage due to doubling of brightness with a power draw reduction of more than 50% on low beam. OEM halogens=110 watts total draw on low beam 7.74 amp load, LED's=40 watt total draw on low beam 2.81 amp draw. Lower amperage draw requires less output from the alternator. How much power do you gain from 4.93 amp reduction? I'm not sure, but it's more of a experiment at this point.

I had no idea people factor that in for cars, I just knew HIDs are 35w and less than halogen. Hope the LED output is good for you, you should snap some pics I'd be interested to see how they compare!

There are cheaper options on eBay and Amazon, in $60-90 for pair (2)
