Question How would you remove the central air vent dials?

    Hello,

I am currently using a paper clip to clamp my GPS onto the central air vent around the emergency flashers. Now, I would like to totally remove the left vent and eventually mount the GPS in a better fashion.

Would anybody know how to remove the vents gracefully?

Note: I've used the suction cup on the central flat console, but the suction is not as great anymore and the GPS tips over frequently.

Below is a pic with the vents encircled.

If you want to remove those vents you need a plastic trim tool, its like a big plastic screw driver (flat blade). I got mine from harbor freight for $5-10. You have to pry from the passenger top corner down the side if I remember correctly, it takes some time and patience the first time.

Once you have it out, the vents are clipped into the housing with two plastic pens, you can try to carefully prey it out (I have not done this).

Does some one know how to remove the vents on the side of the steering wheel?
I tried to pull out the three "flaps" inside the vent, but they where a bit difficult to put inside again.
I wanna mount my Scangauge2 here, with some kind of small plastic or metal/aluminum diy holder, on top of the vent.

I tried to mount it with tape you can pour of and and (forgot the name right now, but you guys know what I mean !? ) but that didn't hold.

I was looking for an gps mount, like the Org. LinarLogic holder for the mirror, but couldn't find one that would fit on the windshield and was small enough.

This is probably the most secure way, but the dashboard mount itself is $30 USD. Any other holders are about the same price or more. I want one for my mp3 but I'm thinking something at a convenience store or walmart might do the trick.

I'm curious about this too. The bracket holding the flaps together on my passenger's side collapsed and I can hear the ball bearings rolling around that "lock" the rotating assembly in place.
