    Manual transmission break-in

How long did it take you to break it in?

As is 5th shifts fine; the rest not so much.

Mine has worked perfect from day 1, maybe you need a clutch adjustment?

Never had an issue with mine. Everything shifts smooth.

No it is not clutch had been already adjusted. The shifting is smooth but after a while gets worse when tranny heats up. Almost like they put oil too thin.

I would say in the winter when below 25 degrees F it was a little notchy going into 1st, red line fluid might have helped a little. Being it is summer time it should be pretty smooth shifting. I sat in a ES 5 speed at the dealer and it felt as smooth as mine.

Hmm, you might try having the oil changed to a different brand. Shifting should be warm butter smooth in the Mirage.

My shifting has always been notchy. Changed fluid and it got alittle better but not buttery smooth. Gets better once really warm.

Are you running Redline 75w80 or 75w85?

My shifter was pretty notchy and balky for the first 500 miles or so...maybe even 1000. They do require a bit of break in for some reason.

Ours at 900mi, but most on highway. Drove a couple days in traffic ~300mi and 1-4 gears are starting to feel better. Still nowhere close to Mazda shift quality. Is OEM fill synthetic?
