I swapped mine out to a dual tone set up from a 2007 Pontiac G6 that I had laying around. I did as the image showed by running the ground to the body and powered them with the existing horn wire. I did not add a relay, blow my fuse, or increase the fuse size. I haven't had any issues other than when I mounted them initially one was pointing up and got filled with water, I fixed the mounting and it dried out and works fine.

Hopefully you have yours straightened out and it's working for you.

I had a strip of metal that I attached my horns to and then mounted where the original horn was with my ground wire between my bracket and mounting point. Notice how the top horn is angled up, I turned it down since this.

For anyone who went the relay route, where did you tap into the 12v? Battery, fuse box or somewhere else?

I would use the existing horn wire for the relay coil, and then come right off the battery with an inline fuse for the actual load wire.
