I tried something the last time I filled up. My gas gauge had one bar left, but it was not blinking. So, I should have been able to put, maybe 7 gallons in the car at that time. Well, as the gas pump approached 6.5 gallons, I pulled the nozzle most of the way out of the tank and SLOWLY kept filling the tank. I was able to put in 8.5 gallons in the car!!! Now, on some cars if you do this then the fuel goes and fills up the charcoal canister and you end up with a check engine light that comes on, and a car that runs poorly and gets poor fuel economy.
Well, none of this has happened yet. Typically I have to fill up with fuel every week and the gas gauge drops at about one bar a day. I drove the car until Wednesday before the gas gauge moved at all!! I filled up a week ago today and currently I still have one bar less than half a tank left. There is right at 300 miles on this tank so far. Do I recommend others try this? NO!!! Let me do this for a couple of tanks of fuel to see if a check engine light comes on or if anything bad happens first.
