    Evo 8/9 brembos on mirage

Anyone know of the possibilities of putting on the evo 8/9 rear brembos on the fronts of our mirages?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-04-05-MIT...2c27d6&vxp=mtr

I know the front brembos are hugely over kill but the back brembos for a evo look like theyre almost the same size as our fronts.

Other than looks, I don't think these would be a worth-it upgrade for us; unless autoX or race track.

You're better off using that money to upgrade stock tires for more grip when braking. I will admit, my 195 wide tires have been used to it's potential more than once for stopping.

Oh purely looks since I've got rims.

Plus Im fairly sure I can score back brembos for free or next to nothing.

Let us know how it's done. I'll be interested in doing it.

Hell, we might can use the rears from the EVO for our fronts too lol.

I wonder how that would affect the braking system controller - that is, the electronic brake-force distribution and active stability control?

There used to be a lot of common ground (at least in the UK and Europe) between older Mitsubishis in the area of braking systems. Rather than go all-out with Brembos, perhaps a better solution would be a set of stock twin-piston calipers (and bigger discs) from another Mitsubishi (EG a Galant 2.5V6 or -admittedly guessing here- a set from an Eclipse GSX) ? Given the light weight of the Mirage, I'd imagine this would be more than enough, and I'd think it'd be easier to get hold of spares for offering up, etc.

Well the only thing I know so far is that you'd need a custom fabricated adapter to put the brembos on.

What about using the 4 wheel disc set from the late 1980's Colt GT's?

Availability seems like the real issue. Its hard to test fit any of this stuff without buying it first.

The brembos I can theoretically take off my car and test fit them onto the Mirage first.

I've done several drum to disc conversions myself. Also upgraded front discs using bigger and better factory parts.
Its usually a simple adapter plate or custom caliper bracket, and sometimes a hose adapter as i usually go with braded hoses for less flex. Its really not that hard. I made two sets of adapters with simple power tools for jeeps once. (Straight Rubber hoses grow inner diameter during stress resulting in a softer pedal.)
